Julie Cooper - Soprano

With MCS - Mozart Mass in C Minor, 11th November 2006

Julie Cooper, who lives in Oxford, sings regularly with The King's Consort and The Sixteen and is frequently an additional invited member of the Hilliard Ensemble.; she has also recorded on several occasions with the Huelgas Ensemble.  She studied at St. John's College in Durham and at the Royal Academy of Music where she graduated with a DipRAM.

A very versatile soprano, Julie's solo performances range from Monteverdi, through Baroque and Classical works to Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Mahler, in venues which include St John’s Smith Square and the Royal Albert Hall. She recently created the roles of Hummingbird and Iris in Ed Hughes’s The Birds for The Opera Group, sang Britten's War Requiem with the CBSO, performed Tippett’s Negro Spirituals with The Sixteen, and featured on the soundtrack of the Ridley Scott film Kingdom of Heaven singing the Pie Jesu.
