Elenor Bowers-Jolley - Soprano
With MCS - Mozart Mass in C Minor, 11th November 2006
Born and raised in rural Norfolk, Elenor began to study voice under the
auspices of Eileen Price at GSMD Junior School. She continued to study with
Eileen until completing her Bachelor of Music at Royal Holloway University of
London in 2000.
In 2004 Elenor Graduated from the University of East Anglia with her Masters in
Music Performance Studies. Elenor continues her vocal studies with Miriam Bowen
and Jeff Howard at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
On a professional level Elenor has performed extensive Oratorio, including
Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Bach’s Sleepers Wake, Mozart’s Requiem and
Coronation Mass and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. On the concert platform - both at home
and abroad - she has performed in numerous recitals including works by Strauss,
Mozart, Menotti, Wolff, Handel and Trevor Hold. Vocal prizes to date include the
Mabel Christopher Linwood and Margaret Tann Awards for young singers, the BBC
National Chorus of Wales Scholarship and sponsorship from the EMI/Laura Ashley
Fund.
Operatic roles include Adele (Die Fledermaus), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Suzanna
(Le Nozze di Figaro) and Elizetta (The Secret Marriage) and Éclair (Von Suppe-Ten
Belles in Search of a Ring). Elenor also had the honour of leading the National
Anthem in May 2005 for the Coca-Cola Cup play-offs at the Millennium Stadium,
Cardiff. Future engagements include Handel’s Messiah for the English Symphony
Orchestra’s Messiah by Candlelight series.
